The first candidate forum, hosted by the Destin Log and the Destin Chamber of Commerce on February 11th at Destin United Methodist Church, proved to be an extremely informative and well-run event. Seven of the candidates were in attendence: Braden, Foreman, Jacobs, Overdier, Pace, Ramswell, and Weidenhamer (Hines is on a month-long vacation).
General consensus was this forum was one of the best ever held. The questions were timely and provocative and offered those in attendance a great opportunity to gauge the knowledge, preparedness and ability of the candidates.
A second forum is being held on Wednesday, February 19th at Destin City Hall. This forum is hosted by the Okaloosa County Republican Executive Committee (OCREC) and will begin at 5:30. The public is encouraged to attend.
